ABMP's Annual School Issues Forum

The ABMP School Issues Forum is a setting where owners, directors, and members of the massage and bodywork profession can educate, inspire, network, and talk shop with peers about issues they determine.

Members: 70
Latest Activity: Jan 31, 2014

We would like to take this opportunity to hear from the educational community about their challenges and successes that could be possible topics of discussion in Austin. Participants drive sessions by leading panels, serving as panelists, and offering ideas and comments from the floor. The end result is all about building a more successful school—and more successful graduates.

The 2012 ABMP School Issues Forum will be held in Austin, TX at The Driskill Hotel April 19-21.

How are you, as a school, keeping your brand alive during these challenging times? What have you noticed...more enrollments or feeling a little stuck?

It was a fantastic Forum Kathy! Thanks for your work in organizing this and getting me to show up in the middle of a crazy time. The ABMP crew is fantastic and I have to thank all of them for the work they've done in pulling it all together.

I thought it was great that someone there (I'm not sure who's taking responsibility) reached out to the NCBTMB to talk about advanced credentialing.Knowing the loyalty this group has to ABMP, I thought it might be a bit of a slug fest, but everyone showed a very high level of professionalism, Neal survived and there were some very interesting insights that came out of that discussion that may change the current direction in credentialing.

Anne is a fantastic moderator and her "Is Swedish Massage Dead?" presentation was quite hysterical (oh yes, educational too.)

Les always has something interesting and appropriate today, even in the face of inappropriate comments from participants like me: "Les, I think your staff are the hardest working, smartest and hottest staff anywhere." To which Les noted that the guys in the mail room were indeed very hot.

The participants deserve a huge pat on the back and maybe even a hamberger or therapeutic massage. The contributions by the school owners and admin really make this show unique.

Can't wait for next year's. Kathy, don't bother sending me info, just sign me up, charge my card and I'll show up.

I am sad I had to miss this years conference. Conference or graduation for my students. Guess who won THE STUDENTS, just as it should be. See you next year for sure.

I imagine you would get questions on this all the time, Angie. I've never seen a resource like it in one simple form before. I remember "back in the day when I was in massage school," having to research from many sources and finally ending up selling tables myself just because I had so much time invested in a learning curve on what was available. The only issue I have with your resource is that it lacks the outstanding tables designed and produced by Jim Craft at Comfort Craft!

Angie thanks for the info. I know at our school it will become a vital piece of the puzzle for my students. Getting ready to post it in our classrooms.

Everyone that knows you knows your intent. Thank you for providing this information so schools (which we are here to help) will have this info. I remember asking it when I was in school. To therapists, this is vital info.

My intent was certainly not to offend.
