Turns out I may have a visit from my parents this weekend. I got a call from them a few days ago--my dad needs knee surgery, and it'll take a month to get it in Mexico. However, my uncle hooked them up with a surgeon for next week in Grand Junction, CO (where he lives). As I'm only a few hours away and they're going to be in Colorado anyway, they decided to drive up, spend tonight and tomorrow here, and head out Monday morning for GJ.

The house needs cleaning and I woke up with a bitch of a headache. Colorado is also getting nailed by spring storms, so this ought to be . . . interesting.

I love my corporate work. Every Tuesday I go to a great company. I do 5 hours of 10 minute massages. I get to use their gym. And I am well taken care by the employees as they keep me in supply of their supplements and other products. And the company pays for me to be there. I also get to do their health fair and annual convention. Their convention (and others I do) allow me to hire other therapists...up to 7 sometimes. This is where the money is......I make lots of money doing convention work when I hire other therapists. I'm trying to get more shows or multi-therapists jobs so I can do less of the work.......but the economy is not cooperating (although I'm doing more table) and my scleroderma/lupus/rebuilt left arm is giving me HELLLLL right now. In short....like I'm ever not long winded....I love chair massage.

Marissa, I totally get why. Sorry to say, I'm not that committed to it, and truth-be-known, I really dislike doing chair work. It just gets my name out there and has helped put people on my table in the past. One corporate gig a month would be great but I'm not sure I could handle more than that, mentally or physically--my back gets angry with me after six or seven people.

On the more rowdy side, the merlot is tasting great tonight after another busy day (I guess you could say I'm celebrating a great week) and I'm about to settle into a new episode of Project Runway. This is quite a consevative area & it seems people are spending tomorrow in church, so I have nothing booked until Saturday & a friend & I will do breakfast afterward. Feels like a Friday night around here. I might even get to see my husband this weekend, which is always a treat! He works nights & we do cross paths sometimes...

Marilyn, and everyone else who actually do chair events..... Congrats on your dedication. I have tried them many times and never, financially, benefited from the time. I have to be honest and admit that I never do events anymore. EVER. Thankfully there are those of you committed to doing them!

Thanks to all of you! You guys are great, these are remarkable suggestions I wouldn't have thought of myself. What would I do without you? I'm so grateful. Seems I'm better at the "helping" part and not so hot at the "promoting myself" part...but I'm delighted to say, one of the ladies already called the office for a table appointment. Either I'm more magic with the chair than I thought, or else more of a smooth talker than I knew! Either way, I'll take it & give her the best massage she ever had. I like all these ideas, thanks again!

Marilyn--maybe just a phone call follow-up to check and see how they're doing. If any of them had any specific complaints, ask how they felt over the next day or two after the massage. If they saw any improvement (slight or not), you can always say something like, "That's great! I wish we'd had more time to work together; I could have done so much more to give you more relief. Would you be interested in coming in for a longer session? I'm giving a discount to new clients who come in from that event." Then, offer them a small discount to entice them further.

Otherwise, everything sounds great!

Whenever I do an event I make up flyers with coupons for $25 off the first session at my office. I'm willing to offer a big discount because once I get someone in my door and on my table I figure there's a pretty good chance I can make them want to come back.

I have a standard flyer and it just takes a few minutes to customize the coupon for whatever group I'm with that day. Then I copy the file onto a memory stick and take it to Staples to get printed on their super-duper professional laser printers. The flyers are half-page size, one sided and printed in black and white on bright-colored paper, so they only cost me about a nickel a piece.

Marissa - it's hearing things like that that make our day. That's brilliant.
Marilyn, good idea getting email addresses for chair massage peeps as well. I don't have it on my chair form - I need to add it.
One thing I have done before is give the office a gift cert for a drawing (it could be for a chirstmas party of office party of some sort) for a table massage and then that has been a domino effect in the office for people coming for table massage.
