Stephen.....I would tell the first engineer to get a new boiler, bend over and...well, fill in the blanks.

Exactly Erica....I'm with you. My life is the same way and yes, the cocktails help silence the little voices in the head. I want to be Gomez as I am debonair and have a great subtle sense of humor.

Go away snow, we got more to come (worst for 30yrs) a couple of inches and our airports close cos the authoritys are F useless.
My boiler dun broke or so the Engineer told me , good job I got a second opinion
2nd engineer got it working fine in 2hrs so what should I tell the first engineer when he rings back with a quote around the £2,000 mark ?????

where i didn't have to worry about how to make ends meet because of these quiet days

Oh, god, welcome to my life. Seriously, the last several years have been month-to-month. I've just about forgotten any other way. I angsted about missing work, but realized there was about f***-all I could about it, so I let it go and just enjoyed the time. The cocktails helped shut off the worry voice, too. ;P

And Kevin, welcome! We're all a little mad here, but it's okay.

Hey Kevin! Missed the intro. :( However, welcome to the Addams Family. The kookier the better!

i would give anything (well not literally) :) to have a few imposed days of quiet. days where i didn't have to worry about the kids cause they were cared for, or the animals...where i didn't have to worry about how to make ends meet because of these quiet days...just a few days to shut off my mind comfortably without guilt or apprehension. :)

Regarding "staycations"--a few years ago, at the beginning of July, I badly sprained my right ankle. I spent four glorious days at home with my ankle propped up, sitting out in the shade of our deck. I drank cocktails, read a book, and watched the hawks fly by over the valley in utter silence. It was one of the best vacations of my life, despite losing several hundred dollars in income. Totally worth it.

Isn't it great, Steve, to be able to enjoy that kind of quiet? Not that I would wish all that snow on areas that aren't prepared, but I think it's a cool experience and look forward to having at least one of those staycations every winter...until the neighbors with generators fire them up, then all the fun is gone. I guess you can look forward to seeing all the folks who are sore from shoveling, huh?

I totally agree with you, Marissa, I guess it's how we roll...spooky and fun. Anybody going to WMF?
