ok so this time I am giving Maryann Williamsons book "A Course in Weight Loss" a try. It approaches weight loss from a spiritual level and tries to help you get to the core your weight issues instead of just altering the way you eat/ exercise. I have lost weight throughout the years but it always seems to find its way back to me.I guess my new approach is to find out why this keeps happening. Best wishes to everyone who is on this path with me!
I have a ton of weight loss and diet books on my book shelf collecting dust. My biggest issue is that I don't eat as I should so my metabolism has slowed to a halt! I own my practice so many times I find myself skipping meals and then eating late at night when I get home. Also I swear the stress of trying to keep my doors open must have me packing on pounds too. I am seriously considering Jenny Craig as I need to lose at least 25 lbs. Last year I hired a trainer and went to her 3-4 times per week for 2 hours of custom cardio/weight training and nutritional guidance. I lost 30 lbs to hit my ideal weight. Since then I've gained back 25 of that :-(. Money is tight now so I really want my next plan to be something that will keep the weight off indefinitely. I know that whatever I do will require lifestyle changes and will involve getting my husband and son on board - both of them eat fried foods and other junk for days (dear hubby buys/cooks it even though I ask him not to) and never gain a gram of weight. I stick to baked lean proteins, low sugar and lots of veggies and fruits and they eat whatever they like -- no fair (grrr).
My current plan includes walking at a brisk pace (4 miles/hour) for 1.5 - 2 hours every other day, eating 6 small meals a day starting when I get up and ending before 7pm, cutting out all sugar including juices (one of my biggest sins is drinking orange juice) and continuing to eat lean baked or broiled proteins, lots of veggies and fruits. Also, I've been using a couple of free Androyd apps on my phone to track and manage calories and my workouts. They are called "Noom" and "CardioTrainer" -- truly awesome and best yet they are free!
