Hi from London. I have a client (kung fu insturctor) with a possible tear to the long head of biceps brachii tendon (pain is directly over the tendon site) yet resisted elbow flexion and supination are pain free. I've ruled out all other pathologies through testing. 3 weeks post injury the client has regained full ROM following rehab exrecises I gave him but decreased strength in forward flexion and abduction of the gh joint on that side and still soreness on palpation of the tendon. I know this injury usually takes up to 6 months to heal and I'm planning the usual rehab, just wondeing if anyone has any tricks up their sleeve as this man wants to get back to taininng (6-7 days a week) asap (don't they all). Any ideas gratefully recieved from you guys over the pond. Jane :)
rest sometime is the option. i know athletes dont want to hear that. I am one myself so i know how it is not to want to but i also know the benefits of rest
Thank you Frank. I did recommend rest as the first and most essential intervention as it were and he took my advice and is actually now back in full training (although bench pressing slightly less which we've agreed is safer). Never did get to the bottom of what this was despite asking many people so am keeping an eye on things. Many thanks for taking the time to get back to me. Jane
