I'm looking to start using essential oils. Any advice on what brand and what oils are good? Thanks

Hi Lori, if you do a search of the forum you will find a wealth of information among many discussions on essential oils. There's enough there to keep you busy for a while!
My two cents worth is that Young Living are the best quality that I know of that are commercially available, although they are pricey and you have to buy into the "up-line, down-line" stuff in order to get wholesale prices.
I just finished an article on essential oils for an upcoming issue of Massage & Bodywork magazine, and one of the things I found out is that there's nothing behind the claims when a company calls their oils "therapeutic grade." So if a company is saying that, you should be leery of the claim, since there's no actual standard for what constitutes a "therapeutic grade" essential oil. Your best bet is to just find a highly reputable seller, and if it seems too cheap to be true, it's probably a synthetic version of the real thing.
I am learning about that, Abram! I would have made different comments knowing what I know now. And I just got oils from a different company that are wonderful. I used them for the first time today. Rocky Mountain Oils; they do use the "therapeutic grade" label but they also test the oils to make sure they have the correct chemical components.
I also read that one shouldn't buy oils from a seller who charges the same price for every oil; that's a sign that the oils are not the quality they should be.
There are very few distributors of essential oils....This is one of the big suppliers...They sell to many of the big name essential oil companies. You have to be a health care professional to buy from them....They have ten grades of quality...The site is a bit confusing....But you can buy any essential oil you want at several different qualities.. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
