massage and bodywork professionals
a community of practitioners
I tried to log on here last night, but the site was in maintenance mode, so I couldn't update (which is understandable, since it's good that they keep things up to date on here). I can't write much because I've to run on her plus I forgot the power cable to my laptop, so this thing I'm typing on (from the Jurassic era) might just stop any minute.
Anyway. IT'S FABULOUS. The conference is exceeding my expectations so far. Yesterday was the first full day and the morning had some brilliant keynote addresses and a panel discussion on the role of MT in public health. I'll go into what they covered when I have a power cable. I spent the afternoon listening to case reports which were really impressive - ranging from cases with breast cancer to cases involving bulimia. They were all brilliant. The funny thing is, I didn't get bored once. It was all really interesting.
OH!!!! And yesterday I sat next to Martha Menard!!!!! OMIGAWD!!!!!! She's REALLY nice. She's also good fun. I told her she should be buying me a drink since I plug her book so much (BTW she has a new edition out that includes additonal information on statistics). She offered! (I declined).
Doc's hair is even higher on the groovy scale in person than in photos. I've adopted Kim and his other student, Meghan as my nieces since they're both great. Doc has been very good at introducing me to people I've only known online and they're all really down to earth and nice.
Bottom line? I'm learning a lot. I'm glad I came. It's seriously cool.
Seattle is a great city too. It's got a cool, laid back feel to it. The people here seem really friendly.
I'll update you guys more when I get a cable!
