So in lieu of my rent going up I have decided to raise my rates...esp. since I catch so much s*** for them being so low. :)
I was going to write the following on my website with the new rates:
Due to the increase in rent and supplies, it's become necessary for me to increase my rates. The increased rates listed below are effective immediately, for all new clientele. Existing clients will remain at the old rate for the month of July as a way of saying thank you. Package rates are available for both new and existing clients. Existing clients will be able to lock in at the old rate.
However, in speaking with another MT colleague she wondered why I was even saying anything. She feels that existing clients don't go on the web site and so only new clients would see the new rates and by putting the verbage above only makes the client question how many times i've raised my rates.
I agree with Rick that you shouldn't give an explanation. The cost of living rises daily, everyone knows this and deals. I'll be doing the same at the start of the new year and have decided to post a sign in my massage room a few months in advance. That way existing clients know when it's going to happen and new clients (after the first of the year) will have no knowledge of the increase.
I agree...no explanation on why. Unless you're raising your rates by $20 or so, people won't probably say anything. New clients shouldn't even suspect that their rate is a new rate.
Now we'll have to find another reason to give Lisa s***. :):) ( a rowdy comment for sure)
