I'm looking forward to making some substantive changes in my life (including the possibility of going back to school!) Some things are coming together and it will be interesting to see how the new year unfolds. I'm uncharacteristically optimistic about what's to come. It's a strange new feeling.
I hope you can find optimism wherever you are and wherever you're at.
Excelsior!

Well my friends it is all most here.....MSC software. The first and only online scheduling software for Mobile Practitioners. Created by a massage therapist for massage therapists and other mobile business alike. This software differs from the traditional online scheduling calenders in many ways. Most importantly your phone now become your tracker. Where ever you and your phone are is your location. The system recognizes your location and will take appointment requests based on location rather…

Over the past 4 months, there have been more and more research studies coming out about a particular virus that is linked to Chronic Fatigue. I have seen people with chronic fatigue many, many times in my office. It is not only debilitating, most doctors up until recently call it a psychological disorder, nothing more.
But recent research is linking Chronic Fatigue to a virus called XMRV. This virus is related to the AIDS virus so most of the studies in years past were…

As 2010 approaches, I’m in the throes of one of my favorite tasks at the office: cleaning and clearing. Of course, housekeeping is done daily around here, but I’m talking about cleaning out the filing cabinets of this year’s files, clearing my desk of the last of this year’s piles, and getting ready for the New Year.
I’m one of those highly organized people that has every year’s bills and records stored neatly in a labeled box by the time Dec. 31 rolls around. New Year’s Day, as has…

This is my very first BLOG. I thought I better get on the band wagon of technology and communication by 2010.
My offices are located in Hillsboro and St.Helens Oregon. 10+ years of practical experience and instructing. Reflecting back I have realized, I desire to expand my networking resources, and not be afraid to reach out to practitioners around the world.
I have also acquired a CADCI (certified alcohol & Drug Counselor) certificate. This truly…

Anatomist and theologian Gil Hedley, PhD., founder of Somanautics and Integral Anatomy, has been a profound teacher of mine. His layer by layer approach in dissection brings new meaning to whole-body connection and the inherent links from skin to bone.
In his human dissection labs, I have had the opportunity to explore the inner workings of the human body first hand. This has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the connective tissue and connect what I sense in the body…

It takes courage to be gentle.
It takes strength to stand guard.
It takes courage to let down your guard
It takes strength to conquer.
It takes courage to surrender.
It takes strength to be certain.
It takes courage to have doubt.
It takes strength to fit in.
It takes courage to stand out.
It takes strength to feel a friend's pain.
It takes courage to feel your own pain.
It takes strength to hide your own…

I volunteered for the March of Dimes with chair massages which I had a good time. I did however find out something that I had not known before, and that is that people don't know how to relax. I asked several clients to relax and they told me that they where relaxed when in fact they were as tense as a stretched rubber band. This has made me realize that we have been programed to be STRESSED, and don't KNOW how to relax with all that is going on in our life it is imperative that we find time…

Some people don't want to see new ideas. But new ideas are happening. Connective tissue is being viewed by some as far more than a packing material. Those in the collegiate world will dismiss the ideas that connective tissue isn't relevant when discussing posture, longevity, or movement. I disagree. I am not the scientist... I am merely a messenger and practitioner of hands-on bodywork. For the naysayers... step outside your box and take a look below.
The Architecture of the…

I recently opened a 2nd massage space through a fitness Center, Imagine Fitness. The scheme of colors are warm hues of golds and reds, dark mahoghany wood throughout the room, eye~ appealing and senses heightened, upon entry one achieves an immediate feeling of relaxation. The Menu of services include an Enhanced Foot Massage which offers a warm foot soak with sea salts, followed by a foot massage with peppermint lotion. Everything from achieving the new space to work out of, to creating the…

The MTBOK Task Force has been working away on the second draft which will be released for public comment at the end of January, 2010. We received almost 600 comments on the document after the first draft was released on September 15, 2009, and we have been going through the document reading the comments received, agreeing on what action should take place and making the changes.
We have also added some new content, moved things around where necessary and dropped some items. I think…

Keeping extra pounds from making an appearance during the holiday season is a challenge that many people face each year. With large family gatherings, company Christmas buffets and goodies a plenty from the oven, it can be hard to keep track of what we eat. There are a few simple steps that everyone can take to keep their portions in check, and thus keep their fat and calorie intake within normal bounds.
Always use a bowl or plate to hold you goodies when snacking. It is easy to lose track…
