How many MT's are recieving bogus Massage requests via e-mail
Hi Everyone , the NCTMB have a section on this on there site but since reading it I have had several of these scam e-mails . One I actually carried along with until they sent me a post office check for $3000,00 then asked me to send them back the remainder of the amount after my charge for the said massages. I handed it over to the police . Since then I have recieved 4-5 similar e-mails and each one I have just put to spam .
I was just wondering how many other MT's are recieving these and if it is just those of us who have web-sites or any of us that are listed on one of the profesional sites .
I would love to hear from you and your opinion on this scam.

Hi Beulah,
I have over the years recieved at least 3 of these emails that are usually easy to spot as the requests for treatment are rather over the top. Eg
I and my wife and familly will be coming to London on xx/xx/xx, there are 11 people requiring treatment twice a week for 3 weeks. I will send you a cheque for the full amount 1 month before we arrive to be paid into your account immediately.
Once the stollen cheque is paid into your account they decide they ain't coming any more and want your refund cheque sent to them promto............money laundered.
Maybe we should start a thread MT BEWARE. as another problem is over zealus ad sales people posing as health officals wanting your details for their directory..........leaving the price tag till last.

I get one about once a month. I always send them the same reply: "Does anyone really fall for this crap?"

When they ask for the money back, I just point out my non refund policy...............:)

I suppose I worry about the new LMT's out there that may e falling for this stuff . After I posted this I received my second one this month pictures of their family as well . I have had them from supposed business men and women , Friends of my clients I had one about models too. WOW They must be getting some responses other wise why would they continue !

In the four years I've been operating on my own I've yet to receive such an email and I consider myself lucky so far to not have to deal with it although I can guarantee you I would not fall for it.
I have, however, received several letters via my website "Contact Me" form regarding "making my business more available on the web"; I usually just delete them.

I have been getting a few a week recently. Yes MT seem to want to believe that they are true because they need clients. There is a good article on it on abmp.com

I am going to start tracking them and listing them on my website. http://bit.ly/dKRu3q Add yours there too if you get anymore and report them. I think you can also report them to your state attorney generals office.

Same here. I just got rid of one last week. I kept it going, just in case, but continued to think it was a scam. I kept redirecting them to my website to pay by credit (3rd party), and the rules of gift certificates...non-refundable, non-redeemable...never heard from them again. Whoda' thunk? ;)
