I am looking for shoes.  Any suggestions from the uber-massage therapists out there??

I love these! Thx.
I just read this response. The issue has to do with traction. In order to use ground reaction force-you apply pressure to the ground and it pushes back, - you must not slip. Therefor the shoe must be non slip. Bare feet will get sweaty and then will slip.

Sandy I'm very interested in what you wrote about the ability to transmit force being dependent on the traction at the foot. Can you elaborate? Are you of the opinion that we can better transmit forces through shoes to the ground than through the bare foot?

A shoe is a piece of your equipment and therfore falls under the catagory of ergonomics. The ability to transmit force, what we tend to call pressure, is dependent on traction at the foot. Therefore, you need a comfortable shoe that fully evelopes the foot and has a non slip sole. Some sort of athletic shoe tends to work best.
I've never had this problem, I'm happy to say :-)

I am concerned for our feet! I think that shoes have a lot to answer for and that, more importantly, feet are largely misunderstood and not appreciated for the impressively strong, sensitive, and functional tools that they are.

If you have a pain in your foot then i recommend  a shoes like acupuncture therapy shoes whcih is best for you..

I work at a spa and clogs/flip flops aren't allowed. I prefer supportave shoes, since I do a lot of table work and move a lot. I love the Ecco line, my current favorites are the 'Sport' sneakers, very light and easy to dance in. I think next to a good table, shoes that work for us are the next best investment.

Ecco line...

In school I wore Crocs, the ones without holes.  Here at home I am bare foot or wear my Vibram Five Fingers.  If I go work somewhere else I hope they allow me to wear the Five Fingers, or crocs.

I work barefoot and wouldn't have it any other way. I always keep my toes looking nice because I know people look at them. Not wearing shoes allows me to climb on the table at any time and helps me feel connected to the earth.

Has anybody tried Naot shoes?  I've seen them at Comfort One and now at Pedestrian Shop (comfortableshoes.com - which AMBP members get a discount).  I remember from the past they were very comfortable but I didn't like the styling too much.  Now they have some flat mary janes that are super cute called Be Ready.

I'm a big fan of Dansko, too!

In response to the NOAT shoes -- had a pair that I wore for every day wear and during massage. They were very comfortable and lasted 6 to 7 years. They now need replaced with another comfortable pair of shoes. I've tried on many name brand names and if they don't fit right I'm not interested and wait for a "good" fitting well-made shoe. I'm looking at the Kalso negative heel shoes and plan to puchase them soon. They fit well, feel good, will help with posture, and last a long time.

Hi!

There are a lot of shoes out there that would help you like shape ups, tone-ups, fitflops, crocs, etc. You just have to make sure you choose what make you feel comfortable with. And if you really want to relieve pain and stress on your feet and legs, try to have a foot and leg massage every once in a while. :)
