First week of September we went back to Houston, Texas for my mom's 75th birthday. My brother has a beach house in Galveston (1/2 block from the beach) and we HAD to stay there for a few days. We HAD to go to the beach as the temps were in the 90's. We HAD to eat some good ole Texas BBQ and HAD to eat some Gulf of Mexico seafood. And we HAD to see my family and some old friends. It was a tough few days but we managed. Next year we may try for a month.
oh Stephen...i will make you very sad with my reply.

My last official "vacation" was last year summer when i moved the family from CT to TX. since then i have only taken a handful of days off and even then they never seem to be full non-thought days off. as a matter of fact, last year i caught the flu and even then found myself working through the nyquil. :(

i would LOVE a vacation. unfortunately being a single mom doesn't really lend itself to vacation time. for me the perfect vacation would be one where i could sleep late and then roll onto a beach or just stay curled up under some sheets and be completely useless.

one can dream right? :)
I just got back! I took 4 days to go out to Iowa. My grandparents are there. We tromped around the old homestead. I have no idea why my ancestors decided to go settle in Iowa, but there it is. We visited grave sites of my great, great, great, great, great grandparents and down. Plus, this will blow your socks off, we have documentation of our ancestors leaving the royal life in England and coming over on the Mayflower. I guess my ancestors were as opinionated and independent as I am. Earls and Dukes to pioneers. Kills me.
I generally take working vacations. That is, whenever I go somewhere, I usually try to wrangle up a client or two so as to help with the business write-off aspect of my travel. In the past year and a half, this has included clients in Denver, Wyoming, and Alaska. I think it's a pretty good mix.

I also really love where I live--we have a bit of land and lots of quiet--so whenever my sweetie and I can arrange a day off (like our anniversary the last two years), we stay at home and do house projects or cook together.
Hey Erica that gives me a great idea for me and trevs cause we need clients in Marseilles, Whylie, steamboat springs, Peterborough etc etc etc ....Me n trevs could get the old 4 hands massage routine sorted .....do a few weights then pump ourselves up with steroids It'll be a blast ......I can almost hear the crowd screemin as we get off the plane......EEeeeeeoooooowww they look odd dont they.?

Aw, c'mon, Erica! Okay, I guess I'm busted. The first thing I thought of (sorry, guys) was Erik Dalton's abdominal massage video clip. Then my mind blipped to a visual of Stephen & Trev flying solo across the Atlantic to vacation somewhere in Texas! Like Marissa said, drinking coffee while visiting this group is NOT a good idea.
see...and when i look at the photo...i see muscle alright. ;)
