The Financial Health of Our Organizations: The NCBTMB

Were it not for the fact that I have already posted a blog titled Financial Shock and Awe at the NCBTMB, I could certainly have used that for this one. The subject matter is the same: the Form 990 filing of the NCB, except this one is for the latest return, from the fiscal year 2008. The previous posting was about the 2007 form.

Here are the cold hard facts: Revenues were down by over a million dollars, while expenses were up almost that much. The NCB is showing almost $2 million in… Continue

Bodywork and Movement Inter-relationship

Andy Oriel, a friend, colleague, and student, says that while Bodywork is enjoyable and helpful, for people to really heal, they must be taught to move. I couldn't agree more. Sometimes when we move we re-aggravate chronic conditions, and a helpful touch can shift a pattern, but to continue on that healing path, we need to explore our movement patterns and find more efficiency, more resilience, more pleasure in our movement. Teachers are valuable, particularly teachers that invite us to… Continue

Happy 2010 everyone

I'm looking forward to making some substantive changes in my life (including the possibility of going back to school!) Some things are coming together and it will be interesting to see how the new year unfolds. I'm uncharacteristically optimistic about what's to come. It's a strange new feeling.

I hope you can find optimism wherever you are and wherever you're at.

Excelsior!

Chronic Fatigue is not all in your head

Over the past 4 months, there have been more and more research studies coming out about a particular virus that is linked to Chronic Fatigue. I have seen people with chronic fatigue many, many times in my office. It is not only debilitating, most doctors up until recently call it a psychological disorder, nothing more.

But recent research is linking Chronic Fatigue to a virus called XMRV. This virus is related to the AIDS virus so most of the studies in years past were… Continue

Cleaning and Clearing

As 2010 approaches, I’m in the throes of one of my favorite tasks at the office: cleaning and clearing. Of course, housekeeping is done daily around here, but I’m talking about cleaning out the filing cabinets of this year’s files, clearing my desk of the last of this year’s piles, and getting ready for the New Year.

I’m one of those highly organized people that has every year’s bills and records stored neatly in a labeled box by the time Dec. 31 rolls around. New Year’s Day, as has… Continue

This is my very first BLOG. I thought I better get on the band wagon of technology and communication by 2010.

My offices are located in Hillsboro and St.Helens Oregon. 10+ years of practical experience and instructing. Reflecting back I have realized, I desire to expand my networking resources, and not be afraid to reach out to practitioners around the world.

I have also acquired a CADCI (certified alcohol & Drug Counselor) certificate. This truly… Continue

The Onion Tree

Anatomist and theologian Gil Hedley, PhD., founder of Somanautics and Integral Anatomy, has been a profound teacher of mine. His layer by layer approach in dissection brings new meaning to whole-body connection and the inherent links from skin to bone.

In his human dissection labs, I have had the opportunity to explore the inner workings of the human body first hand. This has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the connective tissue and connect what I sense in the body… Continue

Strength and Courage; body to soul

It takes courage to be gentle.

It takes strength to stand guard.

It takes courage to let down your guard

It takes strength to conquer.

It takes courage to surrender.

It takes strength to be certain.

It takes courage to have doubt.

It takes strength to fit in.

It takes courage to stand out.

It takes strength to feel a friend's pain.

It takes courage to feel your own pain.

It takes strength to hide your own… Continue
