What was your best day as an MT? when did you discover your treatment could help someone more than you ever thought possible? ...

When did your client come back and say, you've done it!, you have fixed me, I have a new life.
How far into your career was it before you had that big break through that changed your clients life and yours forever?

Stephen, I have a great story. And it wasn't about 'fixing' anyone.

I had a client many many years ago, about 6 years into my practice . She came to me for TMJ problems.

One day a woman who worked in my holistic center (for a different practitioner) said to me
"Do you know who that lady is?...well, duh of course -my client. No she said don't you
read the newspaper? Well, no I don't. Anyway, she proceeded to 'gossip' about this woman telling me she
murdered her child and was on trial. She was placing judgment on me for treating her.

We had words, needless to say , and I told her I created this holistic center for people to
come here that needed any kind of help...no judgments.

Anyway a few weeks later my client proceeded to tell me who she was as well.
I continued to work with her for 7 months while she was on trial. I learned a lot about true healing
on many levels - especially the unconditional love we speak about. Two days before she
was off to jail (yes she got convicted), she was thanking me for helping her so much. I said, oh no,
I thank you! She sat up confused and said What? What are you thanking me for? I said, you
taught me about unconditional love, about non-judgment. Wow, she said , something good can
come of things that look horrible?. She proceeded to tell me I was the' only' person who was there
for her in those 7 months, even her husband and best friend turned against her. That my center was a 'safe' haven for her and taught her about angels and
spirituality and healing while she read some books in the waiting room

. I never thought it possible that something could change two lives forever! I often think of her and say a gentle thank you to her each time I tell this story. So where ever you are dear one I hope you are well and thank you!
Gloria....what an amazing story to tell. i can only imagine how that must have felt. to impact someone so greatly. that's awesome!!

great question Stephen...

i have been blessed in having a couple that stand out.

1. my favorite compliment came after my client was dressed and we were going over feedback. i asked him how the massage was and he said " it was surreal".

2. i have another client who is going to physical therapy for rotator cuff issues. he told me half way through his treatment that he finally can sleep after having months of sleepless nights and believes i've been instrumental in helping him.

3. my other impactful one is from a friend who i haven't really even given a full body massage. but on wednesdays when we all get together, i work on his back where he has several issues going on. one day when i was doubting myself, he told me that he has had pain and problems for a long time and only since i started to work on his back weekly has he ever felt as good as he does now.
Really early in my career (15-16 years ago) I got a near-paraplegic woman out of her electric wheelchair. She has been walking and driving, able to care for her grandchildren and get out a bad relationship, treavel worldwise and become a natural health practitioner herself.

It's been pretty much downhill since then. I peaked early.
My best day ever as a MT was about 3 yrs ago. I had a client who's daughter (age 16) was very ill. The hospital couldn't figure out what her illness was, and they over medicated her, which resulted in her having a stroke. She experienced partial facial drooping. Her eyes and mouth mostly. Her mother said that they were going to have her go to a plastic surgeon for an eye lift. I suggested that she let me work on her first doing the Bellanina Facelift Massage, three times a week for at least 3 weeks and see if I could get the muscles to lift. After working on her facial muscles for 3 weeks, the results were remarkable. Her extended family members thought she had already received the surgical eye lift. It was great being able to see the difference it made.
Her daughter is doing better now after going to the Mayo Clinic. Not sure exactly what they determined her illness stemmed from, but I know that they named it after her.
My best day was actually when I was sharing Reiki with a client. He was a friend of a friend that I agreed to do a session for. His wife sat along side (this was during a camping event a good 10 years ago). In the middle of the session my client lifted his hands and started looking at them, rubbed his fingers together and exclaimed "I can feel my fingers!". Not understanding what he was implying I got a bit cheeky with him, patted his shoulder and said "That's good, you are supposed to be able to feel your fingers." He then explained to me that he has diabetes and suffers from advanced neuropathy, he hadn't been able to feel his fingers for over 2 years. He then reached out and held his wife's hand through the rest of the session, both of them with tears in their eyes. He hadn't been able to feel her hand in his for so long. I was honored and truely blessed to be a part of that moment.

Every other moment that I hear "you just did more for me in the past hour than all the doctors have been able to do for me over the past ** years" is always a moment worth remembering!

Peace
The day I placed my hands on a CFS patient and encouraged his body to breath again with Chi Nei Tsang. We were both surprised that it was possible. His lung function has improved and we now work together on a regular basis.
These make wonderful reading thankyou so much for replying.

In my case I was 3 yrs in my career when a client who had nerve compression from a bulging disc in his neck came to see me. He had been off sick from work for one year as he could not drive due to the strong pain killers he was taking, he wasn't sleeping well and the fact he could not train (he was a power lifter) was driving him mad.
He felt alot better after the first session (sleeping, better mood) after the second session a week later he could stop taking the pian killers and was back at work! During the previous year he had seen a long list chiros osteos and national health physios and had traction that had not worked.
It was wonderful to think you can touch and normalize someones life in 2 hrs of treatment, and I am glad to report there have been many more cases just like him.
Regards steve
Mine was last Sunday. I massaged a lady for the very first time. She said to me, "I have had many massages over the course of my lifetime and yours is the best massage I have ever had". It took my breath away as I am just 2 years into this industry. Mike Hinkle was my mentor while I was in school. He allowed me to do free massages at the Pensacola Massage Center once I was completed with Swedish, which gave me saome experience before I became licensed. I wish others had the same opportunity that I was given as it really has helped to shape this LMT.
Way to go Darcy! We all remember how very important feedback like that is to our work..... especially in the early years.
