Hands-on Neck Release Method via Hanna Somatic Education

Hanna Somatic Educators just don't teach somatics exercises.

Most HSE'ers use bodywork and then give their clients a couple of somatics exercises for reinforcement.

In the video below, try the move and get a sense if you or your clients can feel the connections.  Then give the hands-on method a whirl.…

Daily Un-exercise Workout Plan

We all know a daily exercise workout plan helps improve the feelings of well-being but what do we do to first set up exercise in the first place?

We've been told to stretch or warm-up the muscles with a variety of methods.  Now we're learning how harmful stretching is in the ways most of were taught and many of us disdained anyway.

While on the…

Give Up that Lame Groin Stretch

Prying the knees apart to stretch the groin goes in direct violation of the stretch reflex.  If we push past the set point of a muscle, the brain will re-contrat the tissues to bring it back to the set point.

What's it take to be Fit Over 50.

Well, I had this dream of bringing together some of the top athletes over 50 on a phone call together.

I wanted to interview them on how YOU can use their techniques to enjoy whatever activities you're engaged in.

I've used their strategies to win some gold and silver medals at the Washington State Senior Games and U.S. National Soccer Veteran's Cup (Being a former fibromyalgia patient, now 14+ pain free years, I no longer need a…

Stress Relief

With a number of stress relief methods to choose from, here is one which may be a little different from the rest.

Somatics exercises are unique in that they use the brain to change the signals the muscles are receiving.

In the animal world, we used to think animals stretch, but in fact the stretching we see is an act of pandiculation.

The heart of somatics…

Better Walking with Somatics Exercises

Hi, I'm Ed Barrera, Hanna Somatic Educator and founder of Gravity Werks and I teach people "online" how to overcome physical pain, reduce stress & tension and recover quickly from injury using safe, simple tools known as somatics exercises.

As a 10 year practitioner, I finally figured out that all the movement classes I had been teaching had to be recorded.  If only I had known that 10 years ago... 'course I was a bit green then.  Now I have 150 movement classes and each…
