An Question of Ethics.

I had occasion to ponder this some time ago and thought It might be wize to bring it up here for debate. The working asumption is that those reading this are gifted as energy/light workers but NOT trained as Social Workers or in other forms of "Talk Therapy."

State Boards and Criminal Record Checks

Most state massage boards are now requiring criminal record checks and fingerprints from their applicants; some have been doing it for years, so it’s not exactly news. Some therapists are resentful of this, mainly due to the extra expense, and some view it as unfair, especially if there are other licensed occupations in their states that are not subject to the same rule.

Billing Insurance for Massage

My writing of this comes from the State of North Carolina. I know that there are successful people and Massage Businesses out there that have made this work, even in the State that I currently reside in. Have you tried Critz Technique?

Most techniques out there are about pain spots and pressure. Many massage therapists are not familiar with the muscles names and actions when they primarily do spa massage work, but massage is more powerful than just a 'feel good' service.

NCBTMB Suspending the Requirements on Instructor/proctor for Home Study and DE Programs

This ought to make a lot of people happy: The NCB is temporarily suspending their policy on requiring an instructor/proctor for home study and distance education programs, due in no small part to the outcry from the profession.

The NCB plans to revisit this issue during their 4th quarter meeting, but for the present time, the rule has been suspended. They will inform the stakeholders as soon as they reach a final decision.

Inflammation: A Leading Cause of Aging

What is inflammation? Why and where does it occur? Ask 10 different practitioners, I am not sure you would get the same answer. More and More Regulation WILL GO THROUGH

You know why? Because there's no organized group opposing it. It's like herding cats or getting atheists to come to a meeting. There's no Leave Us the Hell Alone Group. That's why one day you'll wake up and if you get a traffic ticket you'll have to notify your massage regulatory college.

That's an outrageous and absurd claim of course. Except it's already the law in Ontario.

My Report from the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards Meeting

I just returned from the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards annual meeting, held at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN. Hi there-

I'm interested in hearing about those of you who are nationally certified.. I was wondering if you felt that getting nationally certified was worth it?? if so, how? did it benefit you in your practice?? I realize that some states are required to be nationally certified..
